There are an awful lot of orcs in Thar. If you are going to crawl through all the hexes in that particular location, you will fight a very large number of orcs. The default four orc stat blocks aren’t really enough to maintain interest throughout this prodigiously large amount of orc fighting, which means that whipping up a couple of new orcs has been necessary. These are those new orcs.
The Eye Daemon
Another Vestitas hex encounter. This one concerns a town deep in the Chaos-controlled parts of the region, ruled over by a daemon who literally has eyes everywhere.
The Trolls’ Den
We’re throwing up another bit of the Thar hexcrawl today, this one the lair of some trolls in the foothills of the Galena Mountains, right at the edge of the moors.
The Nomads of the Ride
Changing things up today, we have content from the Thar hexcrawl, taking place in the moors on the Moonsea in the Forgotten Realms campaign setting, and which we’re hoping to clean up into a .pdf and release onto the DMs Guild. This encounter includes the nomads of the Ride which borders on Thar, and who are at war with the Manslayer orcs.
The Wolf Brother
Here’s another Vestitas hex encounter, this one revolving around one of the survivors of the Space Wolves’ first and last successor chapter.
The Spider Nest
This is another Vestitas hexcrawl encounter. Gonna be honest, this one kind of revolves around its map and the stats of its antagonist, neither of which are things we are actually producing at this point. So mostly what we have is rules for an area covered in webs. They can’t all be winners.
The Hag Coven
This is another Vestitas hex encounter, this one taking place along the river between Brandt’s Landing and the near-openly Chaotic city of Imberkavitas. Chaos is more thick on the ground here, and blatantly corrupt creatures like the hags can prey on the weak without even hiding their actions.
The Haunted House
This is another Vestitas hex encounter, part of the Vestitas hexcrawl in which a frontier long infested by Chaos cults is receiving a fresh new wave of loyal, pious immigrants to bring the light of the Emperor fully to the region. This particular encounter is not far from Brandt’s Landing, a town that sits right on the border between areas nominally compliant with Cardinal Romanus’ crusade and places that reject Imperial authority outright, whether forsaking the Emperor for darker powers or their own independence.
The Chaos Mummy
This encounter is an excerpt from a Dark Heresy 2/Black Crusade hex crawl set on a planet called Vestitas. Nominally under imperial control, the Vestitas wilderness is still full of the remnants of ancient Chaos cults and Dark Age technology, and was the site of a penal colony gone horribly right several centuries ago. The wilderness proved to be much more welcoming than expected and escaped penal colonists proved ample fodder for criminal networks and cults throughout the jungles and mountains. Now Inquisitorial acolytes and Chaos cults alike search through the wilderness, looking for artifacts to destroy or keep for themselves. This encounter revolves around one artifact in particular, the sarcophagus and canopic jars of an ancient and immortal Chaos sorcerer.
